Day 1: Explore Maras, Moray, Salineras, and Journey to Aguas Calientes

Your adventure begins after breakfast, as our Machupicchu Latin America expert guide picks you up from your hotel in Cusco. We start our journey by driving through the scenic Andean landscapes, stopping first in Chinchero (if you haven't visited before), home to the Tupac Inca Yupanqui Royal House, where you'll admire the well-preserved Inca walls and have the opportunity to meet the Chinchero women in their traditional attire at a textile center, witnessing the intricate weaving techniques passed down through generations.

Next, we continue to Maras, where the famous Moray archaeological site awaits. Moray is a fascinating Inca agricultural laboratory, featuring circular terraces that created various micro-climates for crop experimentation. Here, you'll learn about the ancient farming techniques and the significance of this site as one of the Inca Empire's agricultural research centers.

• Curious Fact: The concentric terraces of Moray were designed to mimic different environmental conditions, helping the Incas study and adapt crops to various climates.

After exploring Moray, we head to the nearby Salineras (Salt Mines), a unique site that has been in use since the Inca times. You'll marvel at the sight of over 3,000 small salt pools, where salt has been extracted using artisanal methods for centuries.

• Legend: It is believed that the salty water that flows into these mines comes from the tears of the mountains, offering salt as a sacred gift from the Earth.

After this enriching visit, we will drive to Urubamba for a delicious buffet lunch (not included), surrounded by the stunning Andean mountains. In the afternoon, we arrive in Ollantaytambo, where you'll explore the incredible Inca site known for its massive stone terraces and the rock formation of the Inca god Wiracocha.

Finally, we'll board the train at Ollantaytambo, following the sacred Vilcanota River to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo). Upon arrival, our representative will escort you to your hotel. The evening is yours to enjoy the charm of Aguas Calientes at leisure, perhaps exploring local restaurants or visiting the hot springs.

Day 2: Machu Picchu Guided Tour - Return to Cusco

After breakfast, the highlight of your journey awaits: Machu Picchu. Your guide will meet you at your hotel between 6:30 am and 7:00 am, and together you'll take a 30-minute bus ride up to the entrance of this mystical Inca citadel.

As you step into Machu Picchu, your guide will take you through the rich history, architecture, and spiritual significance of this ancient city. You'll visit key areas such as the Temple of the Sun, the Intihuatana stone, and the Temple of the Three Windows. As you walk through these sacred ruins, your guide will share stories of Inca legends and the significance of each site.
