A 7-day tour is perfect to explore the highlights of Lima, Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu. This itinerary allows you to fully enjoy each destination without feeling rushed, giving you time to immerse yourself in both the modern and historical aspects of Peru.

Since Cusco is located at 3,400 meters (11,152 feet) above sea level, some travelers may experience altitude sickness. It’s recommended to take it easy on your first day, stay hydrated, and avoid heavy meals or alcohol. You can also chew coca leaves or drink coca tea to help with symptoms.

The dry season from April to October is considered the best time to visit Cusco and Machu Picchu, as the weather is clear and ideal for sightseeing. The rainy season (November to March) can still be an option but expect more rain and potentially slippery trails at Machu Picchu.

Yes, having a guide is not only recommended but now required by Peru’s regulations to explore Machu Picchu. A guide will help enhance your experience by providing important historical context and fascinating stories about the site, making your visit more enriching and enjoyable.
